After 39 years at MMBB, CEO Perry J. Hopper stood in the boardroom during one of the organization’s final days on the 17th floor of the Interchurch Center in New York City. “Seeing the space completely stripped down made the transition feel real,” Hopper declared. “For more than 60 years, it held meaningful memories, but it also reminded us that moving forward creates new possibilities.”
MMBB officially relocated to new office space on the 15th floor of the Interchurch Center, beginning a new chapter after more than six decades on the 16th and 17th floor. The new space brings New York staff together on one floor, fostering greater staff collaboration in a shared, contemporary, light-filled workspace. Designed not only to support collaboration, but also hospitality and the organization’s evolving needs, the new location reflects MMBB’s commitment to serving its members and ministry partners well into the future.
To mark the occasion, MMBB held a Service of Dedication and Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony on May 5, 2026, with attendees joining both in person and via livestream. Among those present were members of the Board of Managers, ABCUSA General Secretary Rev. Dr. Gina Jacobs-Strain, and MMBB staff.
Board President Gwynn L. Perlich welcomed attendees, while staff members Vanessa Carlisle and Jimmy Espinales read scripture from Isaiah 43:18–19 and Joshua 24:15. Board member Rev. Dr. David G. Latimore presented the Litany of Dedication, and former MMBB staff member and current board member Rev. Margaret Lewis offered the Prayer of Consecration.
Rev. Jacobs-Strain delivered the Message of Dedication centered on 1 Corinthians 16:13–14 (NIV): “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.”
“When we are rooted in God’s grace, love, and mercy, we are able to stand no matter what comes,” she declared. “We are able to stand with and for others, not just for ourselves.”
“We know that what we see is not all there is. Our faith is the substance of things hoped for. That is the MMBB way,” Jacobs-Strain continued. “For more than 100 years, MMBB has cared for people and pioneered pension benefits long before they became commonplace.”
Following the dedication prayers, a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception were held.
Planning for the move was led by a cross-functional group representing Finance and Accounting, Legal and Compliance, Technology, Communications and Marketing, Executive Leadership, Facilities, Investments, and Human Capital Management. This new home positions MMBB to serve with renewed energy, deeper collaboration, and a clear sense of purpose for the future.
