Retirement Benefits Consultant
Position Overview
MMBB is seeking a mission-driven and member focused Retirement Benefits Consultant. This role is central to our work with churches and faith-based employers, providing customized retirement and benefits solutions aligned with their short-and long-term needs.
Lead efforts to enroll large and institutional employers into MMBB benefits programs, engage in consultative conversations to design tailored plan options, and serve as a strategic partner throughout the employer relationship.
Primary Responsibilities
• Enroll large employers, and new members into MMBB benefit programs.
• Focus growth efforts on designated marketing areas. (DMA)
• Use consultative listening skills to assess client needs and customize benefits plans accordingly.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with existing employers with a focus on retention and ongoing support.
• Demonstrate deep understanding of faith-based organizations, especially churches and church staff to address their unique financial and benefit needs.
• Stay current with market trends and church landscape, share insights with internal teams, and apply new thinking and behaviors to achieve better outcomes
• Respond to all inquiries within 24 hours or sooner whenever possible.
• Use MMBB systems such as CRM, Concur, Ariel, and Microsoft Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and AI to manage account information and support administrative tasks.
• Generate new leads that will populate the strategic prospect pipeline of eligible churches and faith-based organizations interested in MMBB’s benefit plans.
• Proactively follow up on leads provided by general marketing efforts which include, MMBB website, conferences, mailings, etc.
• Work remotely.
• Ability to travel, as necessary in support of the growth strategy.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Demonstrated consultative and strategic communication skills.
• Strong collaboration and teamwork abilities, especially in cross-functional environments.
• Familiarity with church and faith-based organizational structures and their financial/benefits needs.
• Ability to understand and explain financial concepts related to MMBB retirement plans.
• Ability to efficiently close new accounts by identifying key decision makers and process owners of prospective employers
• Ability to use a Virtual Platform in all facets of work
Preferred Qualifications.
• 2 to 4 years of experience in identifying and securing new business/retention for not-for-profit faith-based organizations.
• Undergraduate or significant experience working within a church ministry context is strongly preferred. Ordination is a plus.
