A Message from Our CEO

Dear friends,

February ushers in Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent—a sacred season of reflection, repentance, and preparation for Easter. During this time, we pause to draw close to Jesus in the wilderness, contemplate our mortality and anticipate the joy of Christ’s resurrection as we ready our hearts for the liturgical celebration of our salvation.

February also signals the start of tax season, a practical moment of reckoning as we learn whether we’ve underpaid or overpaid our taxes from the previous year. With this in mind, Tomorrow’s lead article, “How Do Changes in Federal Tax Law Affect You?” examines recent updates to federal tax law and highlights considerations that may be helpful as you complete your return.

Beyond tax planning, this month’s edition explores timely issues related to church finance, personal finance, and cybersecurity. We take a closer look at protecting your church’s ministry in “What Types of Insurance Does Your Church Need?” offering guidance on coverage that can help safeguard your church’s mission and assets. In “Why Your Credit Card Company Closed Your Account and What to Do About It,” we unpack the growing trend of financial institutions closing credit card accounts—even for individuals with strong credit histories—and explain what steps you can take if it happens to you.

While artificial intelligence brings many benefits, it also introduces new risks. In “Protecting Yourself from AI Scams,” we share practical tips to help you recognize and avoid increasingly sophisticated scams. Finally, “Financial Fact: Are Debt Reduction Companies Helpful?” examines whether debt relief organizations deliver on their promises or create new challenges for consumers.

The world is in a period of economic and political uncertainty. Nevertheless, the Bible offers us encouragement for times such as this: “Let us not grow tired of doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up. So then, whenever we have an opportunity, let us work for the good of all and especially for those of the family of faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10, NRSV)

At MMBB, we are honored to guide you through the ebbs and flows of your financial journey. As we embrace the season of Lent, may you experience the renewal of faith, hope and purpose this time brings.

In Christ,
Perry J. Hopper
