Dear Friends,
This September marks not only a new season but a new chapter for MMBB. It is with a deep sense of purpose and expectation that I write to you today as the newly appointed chief executive officer of MMBB. I am honored to step into this role, following years of collaboration with my colleagues at MMBB pursuing our mission and ministry. Together, we’ve served our members by providing opportunities to enhance their ongoing financial wellbeing and to create a secure future in retirement—and I look forward to continuing that journey.
As we embrace the future, MMBB is committed to being a ministry that supports strategic growth for all our members by:
· transforming lives through wellness,
· providing resources for congregational stewardship,
· and building financial security for generations to come.
This month’s newsletter reflects that dedication, offering practical guidance across a range of topics about church administration and personal finance.
Here’s what you’ll find inside this edition. In “The Role of Technology in Church Finances,” we explore how digital tools—from online giving platforms to cloud-based accounting software—are streamlining financial management in churches. “Negotiating Clergy Compensation with Wisdom and Finesse” offers strategies for pastors and church boards to engage in fair, informed, and mission-driven compensation conversations.
On the personal finance front, “How the Secure 2.0 Act May Change the Way Trusts Work” breaks down the implications for retirement planning and trust structures due to the Secure 2.0 legislation. “Smart Ways to Save on Auto Insurance Premiums” offers actionable tips to manage costs in a climate where car insurance premiums are rising nationwide. Finally, learn which bulk buys may not be worth the price—and how to make better choices for your household or ministry budget in “Savvy Bulk Shopping: What Not to Buy.”
As autumn arrives, I’m reminded of Galatians 6:9: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” (NIV) This verse is a powerful encouragement to remain steadfast in doing what is right, even when the results aren’t immediate. In God’s perfect timing, our faithfulness bears fruit. A similar principle applies to stewardship—perseverance leads to lasting rewards. Stepping into this new season, I look forward to a time of growth and fruitfulness as we walk alongside you on your journey to financial wellness.
In Christ,
Rev. Dr. Perry J. Hopper
