Rev. Dr. Perry J. Hopper joined MMBB’s staff in 1987 and has served as Associate Executive Director, Director of Denominational Relations, and most recently, Chief Client Services Officer before assuming the position of Chief Executive Officer. In each role, he has brought pastoral sensitivity, organizational insight, and a deep commitment to the financial well-being of clergy and church communities.
Perry also serves as a National Secretary of the American Baptist Churches USA. His pastoral experience includes serving churches in Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Englewood, New Jersey. In 2002, he was inducted into the Martin Luther King, Jr. International Board of Preachers at Morehouse College in Atlanta.
Perry earned his B.A. in political science (with a minor in business administration) from the University of Washington and an M.B.A. from Penn State University. He also earned a Master of Divinity degree from the Harvard University Divinity School and a Doctor of Ministry degree as a Samuel DeWitt Proctor Fellow at the United Theological Seminary of Dayton, Ohio.
Perry has served as a board member and treasurer of the Baptist Joint Committee for Religious Liberty (the BJC) based in Washington, D.C. Prior volunteer experiences also includes service as a board member of The Interchurch Center in New York City, Transition Ministries, ABCUSA, and the American Baptist Churches Ministerial Leadership Commission.
