Change Employers Within A Denomination

It’s easy to continue your benefits when you change employers within your denomination. Contact a senior benefits specialist at 800.986.6222 or service@mmbb.org to update your records with your new employer.

Here are some additional steps you may take:

Retirement Plans

Stay on track with your income protection and retirement benefits:

  • Enroll in or update your records for the Benefits for Life Program.
  • Start or continue contributing a portion of your income through regular pre-tax contributions to The Annuity Supplement (TAS).
  • Roll over to MMBB your traditional IRA, 401(k) or other qualified retirement accounts from former employers.
  • Transfer to MMBB any other qualifying 403(b) retirement accounts you have with a prior or current employer
  • Complete your MMBB beneficiary designation forms.

Contact a senior benefits specialist at 800.986.6222 or service@mmbb.org for assistance on any of these steps.

Health Insurance

Don’t miss the deadline to elect medical and dental benefits through your new employer, or you must wait for the next open enrollment period to elect coverage, generally during the fourth quarter of each calendar year.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

A health care FSA lets you set aside pre-tax dollars to pay family health care costs not covered by another plan. Open an FSA with your new employer now and you’ll save taxes on expenses you’d need to pay anyway.

A dependent care FSA lets you set aside pre-tax dollars to pay eligible dependent care expenses for children under age 13 or disabled adults. Opening a dependent care FSA offers the same tax advantages as the health care FSA, and can provide significant tax savings for members with these expenses.

Make sure to submit any outstanding FSA claims with your previous employer for the appropriate time period. Let’s say you work for Church A until June 30 and begin work for Church B on July 1. Be sure to file eligible claims you and your family incurred on or before June 30 with Church A and all claims after that date with Church B.

Check out this section to help you determine how much you should set aside for a health care and/or dependent care FSA. As always, feel free to contact a senior benefits specialist at 800.986.6222 or service@mmbb.org for additional assistance.
