Rev. Dr. David Hinson Joins MMBB As Senior Benefits Consultant

The Ministers and Missionaries Benefit Board (MMBB) welcomes the Reverend Dr. David Hinson as its newest Senior Benefits Consultant. Rev. Dr. Hinson is now working to extend investment, retirement, life insurance, disability, and health insurance benefits to church workers in Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and West Virginia from his base in Frankfort, KY.

“These are challenging days for churches, with many struggling for survival, and I can relate to that struggle,” notes Rev. Dr. Hinson. “As a pastor for 30 years, I’ve learned that the church’s mission starts at home…that you have to protect your pastor and your staff. As a member of MMBB myself for 7 years now, I know there is no better organization for a church to work with to accomplish this goal.”

Rev. Dr. Hinson has spent the last 30 years as a pastor in Kentucky and Georgia, most recently at the 500-member First Baptist Church in Frankfort. His ministry has always had a strong missions component. In the last 12 years, he guided his church to provide health care to the uninsured and underinsured, in part by founding the Mission Frankfort Clinic in 2002. The clinic provides free medical, dental and pharmaceutical services to the community through a local network of volunteers. Rev. Dr. Hinson previously served in a number of leadership roles and on various committees in the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. He holds Doctor of Ministry and Master of Divinity degrees from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and completed his B.A. in History and Christianity from Mercer University. He has also served as Chaplain of the Day for the House of Representatives and Senate in Kentucky since 1999.

“The biggest challenge we face in helping churches develop a 21st century model of ministry is balancing the financial realities with the pastoral ministry,” Sumner M. Grant, MMBB’s executive director, explained. “No one understands that balance better than David.”
