New York, NY, September 8, 2011 – The Ministers and Missionaries Benefit Board (“MMBB”) announces the creation of a new role, National Outreach Manager, as part of its strategy to extend retirement investment, life and disability insurance benefits to churches and faith-based organizations.
Rev. Jim Cook and Rev. Dr. Bill Foster have each been promoted into the role of national outreach manager, supporting MMBB’s outreach team across the United States. Both managers report to MMBB’s director of outreach, Tom Huber.
“We serve approximately 17,000 members in 20 denominations around the world, and those numbers continue to grow,” said Tom Huber, director of outreach. “Jim and Bill combine the evangelical zeal and executive experience we need to propel us into our second century of service.”
Cook joined MMBB in 1999. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, he has extensive expertise in comprehensive financial and retirement planning and more than a decade of experience working directly with MMBB employers and members. Prior to joining MMBB, Cook served as pastor of several churches in California. He holds a B.S. from Lewis & Clark College and a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Foster brings 15 years of pastoral experience—along with more than 15 years of sales, marketing and financial experience with Fortune 500 companies—to his role at MMBB. Most recently, he served for 11 years as senior pastor at Providence M.B. Church in Chicago; he also served Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and Merrill Avenue Baptist Church, both in Chicago. Foster holds a Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary, a Masters in Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and a B.S. in Business & Marketing from Montana State University.
“People working at churches and other faith-based organizations are generally focused on the spiritual well-being of their members,” noted Sumner M. Grant, MMBB’s executive director. “At the same time, they need to take care of the here and now. I know Jim and Bill will continue to promote that message through our staff and to prospective members throughout the country.”
